Text Box

What is a text box?

A text box is a box you can place at any position on your document. It can then be filled with any of a number of things - text, images, tables, even another text box (even though it's called a text box!)

Here's something to keep in mind - the only way to place text or a table at a specific position on the page is to place it in a text box, and place the text box at the position you wish.

Let's see how text boxes work. If you have created these in one of many text editing software packages, you'll see the procedure is very nearly the same.

Create and Fill a Text Box

  1. Create a new, blank publication.
  2. In the logic area, click on Section / Insert Object Here.
  3. From the main menu, select Insert / Presentation Objects / Text Box.
  4. Even though nothing seems to happen at this point, if you move your cursor over the document, you will see it change into a small crosshair. Click anywhere on the document, and drag to the lower right to create a box (it can be any size for now).

  1. From the main menu select Format / Shape.

  1. Set the Position, X: 3 in Y: 0 .1 in
  2. Select the Attributes Tab

  1. Set the Size, Width: 3.6in Height: 0.5 in
  2. Set the Label as, Account Summary Box.
  3. Set the Line Weight: 0 in.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Click inside the text box.
  6. Set the font to Arial, 20, Bold, Center Alignment.
  7. Type, Account Summary.
